Chanderpaul out as Guyana bowl

Gros Islet, St Lucia – Guyana will be without experienced batsman Shiv Chanderpaul for Saturday night’s all-important Caribbean T20 Play-off against Jamaica at Beausejour Cricket Ground.

The Guyanese won the toss and decided to field first and Chanderpaul was ruled out with a left hamstring injury. His place was taken by Trevon Griffth, the rookie left-handed opener.

Gayle breaks six-hitting record

Port-of-Spain, Trinidad – Chris Gayle gave a six-hitting exhibition on Friday as he led Jamaica to victory over CCC and a spot in Saturday night’s Caribbean T20 Play-off match.

The game’s most powerful batsman blasted the ball to all parts of the field and into the stands as he made 85 off just 44 balls – his highest score for Jamaica in this format.

Gayle bonanza flattens CCC

GROS ISLET, St Lucia, CMC – Batting superstar Chris Gayle announced his arrival at the Caribbean T20 the only way he knows how, belting an high octane half-century to fire Jamaica to a seven-wicket win over Combined Campuses and Colleges and confirm their place in Saturday’s play-off.

The left-hander, not a part of the original squad because of his commitments in the Australian Big Bash, was a last minute call up to replace the injured Andre McCarthy and wasted little time in stamping his authority on the tournament.
