Gayle breaks six-hitting record

Port-of-Spain, Trinidad – Chris Gayle gave a six-hitting exhibition on Friday as he led Jamaica to victory over CCC and a spot in Saturday night’s Caribbean T20 Play-off match.

The game’s most powerful batsman blasted the ball to all parts of the field and into the stands as he made 85 off just 44 balls – his highest score for Jamaica in this format.

Gayle bonanza flattens CCC

GROS ISLET, St Lucia, CMC – Batting superstar Chris Gayle announced his arrival at the Caribbean T20 the only way he knows how, belting an high octane half-century to fire Jamaica to a seven-wicket win over Combined Campuses and Colleges and confirm their place in Saturday’s play-off.

The left-hander, not a part of the original squad because of his commitments in the Australian Big Bash, was a last minute call up to replace the injured Andre McCarthy and wasted little time in stamping his authority on the tournament.

Gayle returns as CCC bat first

GROS ISLET, St Lucia, CMC – Combined Campuses and Colleges won the toss and opted to bat first in the penultimate preliminary round game of the Caribbean T20 against Jamaica at the Beausejour Cricket Stadium.

CCC have already been eliminated from playoff contention while Jamaica, second on 13 points, are virtually assured of a spot in the playoffs.

Chris Gayle will play his first match of the tournament following his late call up as an injury replacement.

Barnwell full blast in Guyana win

GROS ISLET, St Lucia, CMC – Guyana withstood a late charge from Leeward Islands to carve out a 14-run win and take a huge stride towards a spot in the playoffs of the Caribbean T20 on Thursday night.

Chris Barnwell’s unbeaten 61 fired them to a challenging 156 for three off their 20 overs and they did well in the death overs to hold off the rampaging Devon Thomas and Chesney Hughes, to restrict the Leewards to 142 for five at the end of their innings.
