Cariah’s century can't save club

PORT-OF-SPAIN, Trinidad - National player Yannick Cariah delivered a dominant all round performance but failed to stop PowerGen from eclipsing Bamboo in a nail biting semi-final of the Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board 50 overs tournament Thursday.

Cariah blasted a century and secured a five wicket haul for Bamboo as they suffered a narrow ten run defeat to PowerGen who secured a spot in the finals of the competition.

He smashed 105 as Bamboo, on the chase, stumbled to 257 for eight off  their 50 overs after grabbing five for 51 to reduce PowerGen to 267 for seven in their 50 overs.

Cariah hit eight fours and two sixes and faced 97 balls.

His fellow national player Evin Lewis played a lead role in PowerGen’s win by spanking 82, including six fours and two sixes, at the top of the order.
