Bowlers dominate Jamaica trial match

Kingston, Jamaica - Bowlers dominated in a low scoring game as Yannick Elliot's XI defeated Donovan Nelson's XI by four wickets in Jamaica's Senior Cricket team trial match at Sabina Park yesterday.

On a day when conditions were perfect for cricket, neither team batted as if it was so, as the bowling was kept tight in both innings of the game from both ends of the pitch.

Donovan Nelson's XI batting first mustered a meagre 173 all out from 49.4 overs, which saw Danza Hyatt topscoring with a soft 29 off 76 deliveries. Aldean Thomas offered little support with 24 from 43 balls including three boundaries.

Spinner Tamar Lambert bagged three for 32, while fastman Andre Richardson took two for 29 for Elliot's team.

When it was Yannick Elliot's XI turn to bat they got off to a steady start with openers Brenton Parchment (26) and Zeniffe Fowler (30) knocking the ball around patiently, before Parchment fell caught behind.

Cassius Burton (25) and Carlton Baugh Jnr (24) injected some pace to the innings before they both lost their wickets.

Akeem Dwyer came and wrapped up the victory hitting a four and a big six, 175-6 from 49.1 overs it ended for Yannick Elliot's XI. Krismar Santokie led the bowling with three for 49.

The players continue to prepare for the Super 50 tournament with another trial match today at Sabina Park.
