SCARBOROUGH, Tobago - Round 1 of the WICB Tobago House of Assembly Regional Under 17 Tournament completed today across three venues on the island of Tobago. Following are the reports on all three matches:

AT LOUIS DOR - BARBADOS v JAMAICA

Barbados defeated Jamaica by six wickets to get their Regional Under 17 tournament off to a flying start at Louis Dor. Jamaica won the toss and elected to bat first, but they would be made to regret that decision.

With no runs on the board, Saad Ahmad was caught and bowled Domique Drakes. Things would only get worst for the Jamaicans as they were reduced to 20/4. Denniel Griffith and Shahid Crooks shared in a 51 run partnership to get the hosts back up and running. Both batsmen top scored in innings with 28.

However, once they were gone, no other batsman got to double figures. The chief destroyer for Barbados was Drakes (6-1-13-3) and Ian Boyce (5.3-1-29-3). Lee Germon-Gaskin took two wickets as Jamaica were all out for 108 in 38.3 overs

Barbados openers, Gaskin and Leniko Boucher made a solid reply, putting on 31 runs for the first wicket. There was a little bit of a wobble as Ryan Burnett and Abhijam Mansingh gave the Bajans a scare. From 31/1, the Bajans fell to 44/4. But Nicholas Kirton and Shemar Springer ensured Barbados the victory with an unbroken 65 run partnership.

Kirton ended on 18 not out while Springer made 35 not out. Burnett took 2-22 while Mansingh had 2-30.

AT BON ACCORD - GUYANA v WINDWARDS

Kyle Cabey narrowly missed out on a half-century but ensured the Windward Islands got off to rocking start in their 2013 Regional Under 17 campaign. After winning the toss and asking Guyana to bat first, Daryl Cyris and Brian Jospeh rocked the Guyanese batsmen.

Shimron Hetmyer playing in his second Under 17 tournament top scored with 40 for Guyana. But below him no other batsman flourished. Wickets kept falling at regular intervals once Kershaski Lewis effected the run out of Ronaldo Renee with the score on 25.

The highest partnership of the innings was that of the opening pair (Hetmyer and Renee) who put on 25 together. Cyrus destroyed Guyana with figures of 5.3-0-15-4 while Joseph had 6-1-27-3. Guyana were bowled out inside 29 overs for 105.

Gidron Pope, also playing his second Under 17 tournament and fellow opening batsman, Cabey went about chasing their target with ease. Both batsmen put on 60 runs for the first wicket before Pope was bowled for 32. Christian Charlery joined Cabey and both men rushed the Windwards to victory, getting to their target of 106 in 15.1 overs with the loss of one wicket.

Cabey ended on 49 not out while Charlery was 18 not out. Grisean Grant was the pick of the Guyanese bowlers with 1-0-3-1.

AT SHAW PARK - T&T v LEEWARDS

Jerron Maniram hit a splendid unbeaten 78 to help hosts Trinidad and Tobago scrape past the Leeward Islands in Round 1 of the Regional Under 17 tournament. In a tight, low-scoring game, T&T scraped home by two wickets.

After winning the toss and electing to bat first, the Leewards got off to a bad start, losing opener Tyrone Williams third ball of the innings. But Ross Powell and Saeed Williams came together in an 82 run, 2nd wicket stand. Williams stroked 55 while Eilliams hit 34.

After Williams was out, Kasey Carter kept the innings going with an aggressive knock of 55 that contained three fours and a six. Sharing in a 41 run partnership wit Powell, both batsmen forced T&T on the defensive.

But the innings fell away when both batsmen departed on 55. None of the seven remaining batsmen got into double figures. Bryan Boodram led T&T's recuperation with figures of 9-0-31-3. Captain Varendra Jagroop and Carl Vialva both took two wickets. The Leewards were eventually bowled out for 183 in 50 overs.

T&T's chase got off to a shaky start as the hosts regularly lost wickets. Boodram hit 33 up top but he was only one of three T&T batsmen to get into double figures. Maniram led T&T's chase though, stroking an unbeaten 78. His knock included seven fours and two sixes. In a tight finish, T&T got home with two wickets in hand and with 9 balls remaining.

Philo Wallace finished with figures of 10-3-27-3 and Miral Wadhwa had 10-2-33-3.
