BCB/Universal DVD T/20 - D’Andrade, Ramdeen and Bissoondial slam half-centuries … four-wicket hauls for Joseph and Johnson

Georgetown, Guyana - Action in this year’s Berbice Cricket Board (BCB)-organised, Universal DVD Club-sponsored first division T/20 competition for teams in the Ancient County continued last weekend with some outstanding individual performances.
Berbice opening batsman Anthony D’Andrade hit an unbeaten 59 which included five fours and three sixes and which, together with 44 from former Guyana Under-19 batsman Joemal La Fleur, helped Bermine post 122 for 2 in 15 overs against Skeldon Community Centre.
The duo posted 102 for the first wicket from 12.2 overs, following which Skeldon were restricted to 94 for 8 at the end of their 15 overs.
Former Berbice Under-19 all-rounder Kevin Ramdeen scored 55 (4x6, 4x4) to steer Universal DVD Young Warriors to 134 for 4 in 15 overs against Edinburgh with former Guyana Under-19 batsman Linden Austin chipping in with 38.
Ramdeen returned with his off-spinners and took 2 for 6 to restrict Edinburgh to 61 in 14.3 overs, to complete a fine day in the field.
Karamdat Bissoondial hit three sixes and the same number of fours in his 54, which took Blairmont Community Centre to 85 for 7 from their 10 overs against D’Edward who struggled to 28 for 9 in their response in the face of tight bowling from Berbice Under-19 left arm spinner Kevon Jawahir’s 2 for 4.
Former Guyana Under-19 pacer Raun Johnson took 4 for 14 and former West Indies Test pacer Brendon Bess 3 for 15 to help West Berbice restrict Universal DVD Young Warriors to 116 for 8 in 20 overs.
The consistent Keith Fraser struck five sixes and one four in his 41, which, along with Krisendat Ramoo’s unbeaten 37 and Rafael Estriado’s 28, steered West Berbice to a six-wicket victory.
Bush Lot Rising Star pacer Dellon Joseph picked up 4 for 17 to restrict Upper Corentyne to 118 for 9 in 20 overs, but his efforts were in vain, as Bush Lot could only respond with 100 for 9 from their 20 overs, as Upper Corentyne’s off-spinner Jameel Azad 3 for 7 and Lakeram Latchman 2 for 15, engineered the win for their team.
The match between Young Warriors Universal DVD and Skeldon Community Centre at Cumberland was rained out without a ball bowled, while the preliminary stage of the competition will conclude today and tomorrow, with the fixtures being as follows:
Group A: at 13:30hrs, Albion Community Centre will host D’Edward at Albion and Blairmont Community Centre will oppose Rose Hall Town Gizmos and Gadgets at Blairmont, while in Group B from 09:00hrs, Bermine will oppose Bush Lot Rising Star at Albion and West Berbice will face Upper Corentyne at Port Mourant.
Tomorrow’s action will bowl off at 13:30hrs and will see from Group A, Blairmont Community Centre seeking to resist arrest from Police at Blairmont, while in Group B, Universal DVD Young Warriors will collide with Bermine at Cumberland and Edinburgh will host West Berbice at Edinburgh.

Group A: Albion Community Centre (16 points) Rose Hall Town Gizmos and Gadgets (12 points), Police (8 points).
Blairmont Community Centre (4 points), D’ Edward (4 points) and Port Mourant Karibee Rice (4 points), while in Group B Bermine and Universal DVD Young Warriors lead with 13 points each and they are followed by Upper Corentyne (12 points), Skeldon (10 points), Bush Lot United (9 points), West Berbice (5 points) and Edinburgh who are yet to get off the mark.
