BCB name squads for tour matches

HAMILTON, BERMUDA - The players who toured Florida recently will form the nucleus of the squad to face the touring Melbourne Cricket Club in three 50-over matches starting today and tomorrow at Somerset Cricket Club.

One notable absentee is former captain David Hemp who is back in England but who is expected to join the team for the upcoming Division 3 Championships to be held in Bermuda at the end of the month.

Hemp’s place will be taken by left-handed opener Treadwell Gibbons, while allrounder Kamau Leverock, who is studying in England, is included in the squad for today’s match only. Greg Maybury, also studying in England, is named in the 12 for Tuesday’s final match against the Jamaicans while another England-based youngster, Delray Rawlins, is named for all three matches.

Eight players have been included in all three squads, Janeiro Tucker, Treadwell Gibbons, Jason Anderson, Jacobi Robison, Tre Manders, Rawlins, Sammy Robinson and Dennico Hollis. Veteran batsman Lionel Cann will play only today’s match. In total 16 players have been chosen.

New captain Stephen Outerbridge will lead the team in the weekend matches while Rodney Trott, not included for tomorrow’s match, will return to captain the team in the absence of Outerbridge on Tuesday. All three matches start at 10.30.
