BCB name squads for GCB tournaments
 

GEORGETOWN, GUYANA - The ever vibrant Berbice Cricket Board (BCB) last weekend shortlisted their squads which will do battle in the upcoming Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) Under-15 and 19 tournaments respectively.

Not one to leave any stone unturned in their bid to maintain their supremacy on local cricket from Under-15 to senior, the BCB under the kind patronage of telecommunications service provider Guyana Telephone and Telegraph Company (GT&T) have named their Under-15 team which will do battle with Demerara and Essequibo.

Berbice GT/T Under-15 team would be led by promising batsman Joshua Harrichand of Albion with Joel Seetaram as vice-captain and the team was selected based on performance in the BCB/Tenelec Under-15 Inter-club and BCB/National Communications Network Inter-zone tournaments respectively.

The full Under-15 squad reads: Joshua Harrichand (Captain), Adrian Sukwah, Kyle Micheal, Tyrell Peters, Matthew Hardial, Titus Webster, Filon Crandon, Steve Deonarine, Joel Seetaram, Joshua Gobin, Rameshwar Somwaru, Sylus Tyndall, Veramoottoo Semwansanie and Bramsat Singh.

Six (6) standby players were named and they are: Kris Ramnarine, Kevin Sinclair, Vevakanand Jagit, Gavin Chatterpaul, Zameer Inshan and Danil Samaroo, while Chairman of Selectors Leslie Solomon is tasked with the managerial duties.

Meanwhile, in their bid to compete efficiently in the GCB Under-19 Inter-county tournament, the BCB has named 30 players who will undergo a preparatory encampment period.

Among those listed are national Under-19 captain Shawn Pereira, Gudakesh Motie-Kanhai, Romario Shepherd and Shimron Hetmyer who all played for Guyana last year, along with the promising Sharaz Ramcharran, Arif Chan, Quacy Mc Pherson, Grisean Grant and Shailendra Shameer.

The 30 man elite squad reads: Shimron Hetmyer, Quacy McPherson, Leon Andrews, Nick Ramsaroop, Avishkar Sewkarran, Parmanand Narine, Sharaz Ramcharran, Devin Baldeo, Arif Chan, Martin Singh, Karamchand Ramnarine, Ashkay Homraj, Hakeem Hinds, Shailendra Shameer, Derek Narine, David Lachaya, Parmanand Ramdhan, Shawn Pereira, Kevon Jawahir, Avinash Wagid, Gudakesh Motie-Kanhai, Suresh Dhanai, Romario Shepherd, Grisean Grant, Nial Smith, Kamesh Sugrim, Brandon Persaud, Daniel Lewis, Kareem Mentore and Darius Nedd.

The elite squad would commence training today under the supervision of senior coach Julian Moore, in preparation for the Under-19 Inter- County three and one tournaments respectively, which begins on April 24, 2013.
