Barbados, Windwards race to 2nd win
 

BASSETERRE, St Kitts – Lenico Boucher’s unbeaten century fired Barbados to their second straight win while Windward Island produced yet another brilliant run chase to also post their second victory, on the final day of the second round of matches in the West Indies Cricket Board Under-15 Championship here Sunday.

The opener stroked an unbeaten 104 as Barbados, set 156 for victory against Guyana, cruised to their target by eight wickets at the Edgar Gilbert Complex in Molineux.

He put on 97 for the first wicket with Danny Chesham before adding an unbroken 58 for the third wicket with Nicholas Kirton who finished on 24 not out.

All told, Boucher hit 15 fours in a knock that lasted 112 balls in 155 minutes at the crease.

Earlier, Guyana were dismissed for 168 in their second innings after resuming the day on 81 for two.

Sherfane Rutherford top-scored with 80 while Runakio Renee cracked 48.

Kirton was outstanding with the ball, taking six for 21.

At Warner Park, the Windwards yet again came from behind to defeat Trinidad and Tobago by four wickets.

Set 177 to win, they reached their target thanks to important knocks by Jurani Baptiste (39), Brian Joseph (35), Ryan John (34), Christian Challery (25) and Anil Matthew (22).

Resuming the day with a 33-run lead on first innings, T&T were bowled out for 144 with Keagan Simmons getting 34 and Sachin Ballai stroking 22.

Joshua Mann was the best Windwards bowler with four for 24 while Brian Joseph got two for 23.

At Conaree Sports Complex, defending champions Jamaica’s poor form continued when they barely avoided defeat to Leeward Islands.

Starting the day already on 39 without loss and an overall lead of 127 runs, the Leewards reached 155 for nine.

Set 243 for victory, Jamaica battled to 122 for eight after being undermined by three-wicket hauls from Karima Gore (3-6) and Zubie Deyal (3-12).
