Windies seek turnaround in fortunes

Bridgetown, Barbados–West Indies will be aiming to “pull one back” against Pakistan when the two teams meet in the Fourth Digicel One Day International on Monday. The Windies trail 0-3 in the five-match Digicel Series and need a confidence booster.

Captain Darren Sammy outlined key areas his side will be paying close attention to as they enter the contest.

First ball at the historic Kensington Oval is 9.30 am (8.30 am Jamaica Time).

Sarwan replaces Smith for 4th Digicel ODI

Bridgetown, Barbados– The WICB Selection Committee has announced one change to the West Indies 13 man squad for the 4th Digicel One Day International against Pakistan.

Ramnaresh Sarwan has replaced Devon Smith in the squad which is down 0-3 in the five match Digicel Series.

The 30 year old Sarwan has featured in 166 One Day Internationals and has four centuries and 35 fifties.

Brathwaite honoured to lead WI U19

Dubai, United Arab Emirates Captain of the West Indies Under-19 team Kraigg Brathwaite is proud of the team’s performance in the ongoing series against Australia. The right-handed opener added that he’s extremely proud to be leading the side as they prepare for the three-day “Test” match.

Desmond Haynes joins Windies as Batting Consultant

St John’s, Antigua– The WICB announced that legendary former opening batsman Desmond Haynes has joined the West Indies team as Batting Consultant for the Digicel Series 2011. Haynes, an outstanding opener in his playing days, will be working with the West Indies senior team batsmen under Head Coach Ottis Gibson.

He was part of the Windies camp in Barbados last week and he will be engaged for the duration of the Digicel Series. Following the Digicel Series the WICB will commence the search for a full time Batting Coach for the West Indies team.

Windies U19 off to Dubai

Bridgetown, Barbados– The West Indies Under-19 Team departed from Barbados on Wednesday for their four-match series against Australia Under-19s in Dubai. The squad will play a four-day match and three One-Dayers against the Aussies at the Global Cricket Academy.

Head Coach, Roddy Estwick said the tour will be an opportunity to form the unit expected to represent the West Indies at the International Cricket Council’s Under-19 World Cup in Australia next year.
