Umpire Brathwaite delighted with English stint

Port-of-Spain, Trinidad – West Indies Cricket Board Senior Panel umpire Gregory Brathwaite recently returned home after a successful stint officiating in the England at the start of the County Season. The 41-year-old was in England as part of the Umpire Exchange Programme between the WICB and the England and Wales Cricket Board. Brathwaite, who has served as Fourth Official in international matches, said he was quite happy with the time he spent in England and thanked the WICB for the “opportunity to develop and grow as an umpire”.

Shillingford cleared by ICC

St John’s, Antigua – Off spinner Shane Shillingford has been cleared by the International Cricket Council to return to international cricket. The ICC formally notified the WICB of the clearance following a Biomechanical Bowling Analysis which was conducted at the University of Western Australia on May 25th last by a research team headed by Prof. Bruce Elliott.

Shillingford underwent five months of intense remedial work at the Sagicor High Performance Centre in Barbados and in his native Dominica.

Ashley Nurse ready to romp v India

Port-of-Spain, Trinidad- The big day is still a few days away but West Indies all rounder Ashley Nurse is ready to face India in the Digicel Pearls T20 International on Saturday.

First ball at Queen's Park Oval is 10 am (9 am Jamaica Time)

Nurse, the 22-year-old off-spinner from Barbados played his first match in Windies colours in April against Pakistan. Now he is back in the set-up and sees Saturday's match as the biggest of his life. He's totally switched on.

Shannon Gabriel sees golden opportunity in T20

Bridgetown, Barbados – Pace bowler Shannon Gabriel is ready to showcase his bowling skills for the Sagicor High Performance Centre against his native Trinidad and Tobago when the two teams meet in a Twenty20 match on Saturday. The match will be played at 2 pm (1 pm Jamaica Time) at Queen's Park Oval and will follow the Digicel Pearls T20 International between West Indies and India at 10 am (9 am Jamaica Time).
