Big chance on Dubai tour for HPC players - Coley

Bridgetown,Barbados – There is a buzz among the players in the Sagicor High Performance Centre as they left the Caribbean this afternoon for a two-week tour of Dubai.

Speaking ahead of the squad’s departure Head Coach Andre Coley said there was great expectation as the squad embarked on its second international tour. Last year the Sagicor HPC toured Canada, where they topped a three-nation tournament which included Canada and Bermuda.

Mathurin replaces withdrawn Nurse for T20s

Bridgetown, Barbados – The West Indies Cricket Board’s Selection Panel has named left-arm spinner Garey Mathurin as a replacement for off-spinner Ashley Nurse in the squad for the two T20 Internationals in England next week.

Nurse did not meet the required fitness standard during the ongoing West Indies team camp in Barbados and has been withdrawn from the squad as a result.

Charles eager to learn from Dessie Haynes

Bridgetown, Barbados – In just his first week in West Indies colours Johnson Charles says he has “learned a lot of great new things” while working with West Indies Batting Consultant Desmond Haynes. Charles, a top-order batsman from the island of St Lucia, earned a call-up to the squad for the two-match T20 Series against England next week at the Kia Oval in London. Since joining the team for the one-week preparatory camp he has worked closely with Haynes, the legendary opening batsman.

Give me a sniff and I'll take it - Dwayne Smith

Bridgetown, Barbados – Allrounder Dwayne Smith is eager to make an impactful return to the international stage. Smith, 28, announced himself on the world with a blazing century in his first Test match at Cape Town back in 2004. Since then he encountered mixed fortunes and last represented the West Indies against Zimbabwe in early 2010. He has been named in the West Indies squad for the upcoming two-match T20 Series against England next week and has been working hard in the nets at the 3Ws Oval at the Cave Hill Campus of the University of the West Indies.

Sammy confident as Windies get down to hard work

Bridgetown, Barbados – West Indies captain Darren Sammy says the signs are looking really good as the Windies prepares for the upcoming T20 Series in England next week. An upbeat Sammy expressed confidence that his players will do well when they face Graeme Swann’s men at the Kia Oval in London. The two matches are slated for Friday, September 23 and Sunday, September 25.
