Kraigg Brathwaite named in Windies 13

Basseterre, St Kitts– Eighteen year old Barbadian opener Kraigg Brathwaite has been named by the WICB Selection Committee in the West Indies squad for the Second Digicel Test against Pakistan at Warner Park starting tomorrow.

Brathwaite has replaced left handed Grenadian opener Devon Smith as the only change in the squad.

Sir Hilary says 'don' comments misunderstood

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, CMC – UWI Cave Hill principal Sir Hilary Beckles has defended his comments characterizing Chris Gayle as a “don”, contending he was merely outlining a public perception that existed.

Sir Hilary was slammed by the West Indies Players Union over the comments, with the players union calling for his resignation as a West Indies Cricket Board director and for UWI to launch an investigation.

Fiery Fidel is back!

Georgetown, Guyana - Fast bowler Fidel Edwards has signalled his readiness to return to the highest level of the game.

The fiery 29-year-old was last week invited to participate in a two day practice match prior to the First Digicel Test match against Pakistan at the Guyana National Stadium.

He was out of the game for close to two years and made an impressive return for Barbados earlier this year in the WICB Regional 4 Day Tournament, with 22 wickets, to be one of the leading bowlers on the circuit.

Windies take one back after D/L

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, CMC – Dwayne Bravo struck a long-hop from Shahid Afridi high over mid-wicket for six before rain interrupted to soothe West Indies’ ailing pride, with a one-run victory over Pakistan under the Duckworth-Lewis Method in the fourth One-day International on Monday.

West Indies finished on 154 for four from 29.5 overs – the total required under the D/L Method – to claim their first victory in the five-match series, and over a Test side other than Bangladesh since June 2009.

'I'm expressing myself with my bat' - Simmons

Bridgetown, Barbados– West Indies had the sweet taste of victory on Monday as they recorded their first win over Pakistan in the Digicel One Day International Series.

The triumph, by one run under the Duckworth Lewis Method, was achieved when Dwayne Bravo hit a massive six over midwicket to push the home side to 154-4 off 29.5 overs in the rain-affected 4th Digicel ODI at Kensington Oval.
