Bajans beat Canada in CT20 warm-up

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, CMC – Barbados defied a solid batting performance from Canada to clinch a five-run victory in their five-match Caribbean T20 warm-up series.

Chasing 140 for victory, the Canadians looked on course for victory following a top score of 42 from Jimmy Hansra, Zubin Surkari’s 26 and a knock of 23 from Raza Rehman in the final match at North Stars in the northern parish of St. Lucy.

The hosts however, showed a bit of their clutch gene to restrict the Canadians down the stretch. The result meant Barbados won the series 4-1 as both sides completed much-needed preparations for the Caribbean T20 Championship, starting next month.

Earlier, all-rounder Kevin Stoute led the way for the Barbadians with 37 from 38 balls, taking the hosts to 139 for eight from their allotment of 20 overs.

No other Barbados batsman reached 20, as Rehman, Junaid Siddique and Harvir Baidwan collected two scalps apiece.
