Badree shares with youths
PORT OF SPAIN, TRINIDAD - Badree, a member of the West Indies squad that lifted the World T20 title in Sri Lanka last October, readily accepted the invitation from Ramadhin to say a few words of encouragement to the youngsters before the second and final day of PowerGen’s Premier division match against hosts Hafeez Karamath Ltd Aranjuez Sports Club.
PowerGen won the match by nine wickets, with Jason Mohammed hitting a first innings hundred and Dave Mohammed taking five wickets in Aranguez’s second innings.
Badree, who is due to leave shortly to fulfill a contract with Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League’s 2013 season, spoke to the youngsters about the importance of sportsmanship and education as part of their overall development. Apart from his prowess on the cricket field as a miserly opening bowler in T20 matches, Badree is a physical education teacher at a secondary school in his hometown of Barrackpore.
The MeCa programme, which has attracted over 120 students this year, is now on a break for the easter weekend but resumes on Sunday, april 7.
The Royals, winners of the inaugural IPL tournament in 2008, face the Delhi Daredevils in their opening match of the new campaign the day before, April 6.
