Antigua claim profitable LI youth cricket finish

St John's, Antigua - Antigua & Barbuda finished third in the five-team Leeward Islands Under-15 cricket tournament, which was jointly hosted by St Kitts and Nevis.
The Antiguans won two, lost one, and drew one of their three matches to finish with 45 points, eight points behind Nevis in the number two spot and 16 points adrift of champions, Montserrat.
Throughout the tournament, Antigua & Barbuda picked up five batting points and 13 bowling points. Uri Smith won the team MVP award for Antigua.
Montserrat ended the tournament with 61 points after three victories and one loss while Nevis ended with 53 points.
St Kitts were fourth with 26 points while Anguilla ended at the bottom of the table with just five points.
The Montserrat team wrapped up their campaign with an innings and 37-run victory over St Kitts.
St Kitts won the toss and elected to bat first. They were restricted to 82 all out in 30 overs.
Bowling for Montserrat, Zawandie White bagged four wickets for 15 runs from his allotted seven overs while Chinmay Gopal picked up three for 11, and K Cabey had two for 11 from three overs.
Montserrat, in reply, made 175 for six from their allotted 35 overs. White, who was adjudged tournament MVP, continued his good form with the bat, scoring 63 while Cabey contributed 42.
St Kitts, trailing by 93 runs in their second innings, reached 56 for six in their allotted 15 overs.
The tournament concluded with a brief awards ceremony. President of the Leeward Islands Cricket Association Auckland Hector addressed the teams and offered words of congratulations to the winners.
