Albion, RHTG&G through to semi-finals

Georgetown, Guyana - Albion Community Centre and Rose Hall Town Gizmos and Gadgets (RHTG&G) both won their final Group A preliminary matches on Saturday to end up as winners and runners-up respectively of that group, thereby earning their places in the semi-finals of the 2013 Universal DVD first division T20 cricket competition.
Albion chalked up the maximum 20 points, while RHTG&G ended on 16.
At Albion, the home team defeated D’Edward by 10 wickets. D’Edward, winning the toss and choosing to bat first, were restricted to 117-6 from their 20 overs with Lakeram Sukra doing well to score 52, which included two fours and four sixes, while Heeralall Bridgelall made 22.
Bowling for Albion, West Indies player, Devendra Bishoo took 3-17 from four overs and fellow leg-spinner, Avinash Wajib 3-20 from four overs.
In reply, Albion Community Centre romped to 120 without loss in just 15.2 overs, thanks to former West Indies opening batsman, Sewnarine Chattergoon, who finished on 63 not out (7x4s) and former Guyana Under-19 opening batsman, Kandasammy Surujnarine, with 56 not out (5x4s).
Over at the Blairmont ground, RHTG&G beat Blairmont Community Centre by 43 runs. RHTG&G, losing the toss and asked to take first strike, were under early pressure from Blairmont who did well to restrict them to 114-8 with former Berbice cricketer, Jason Sinclair, top-scoring with 39 and former Guyana wicket-keeper-batsman, Delbert Hicks, 18.
Bowling well for Blairmont were Demerara’s Robin Bacchus, who took 3-29 from four overs, and leg-spinner Kevon Jawahir, with 2-24 from four overs.
However, when Blairmont replied, they fared even worse, soon finding themselves at 55-5, a position from which they never recovered, ending on 71 all out in 17.3 overs. Karamdat Bissoondial topscored with 15.
Bowling for RHTG&G, left-arm spinner Ravi Narine took 4-18 from four overs, off-spinner Rajiv Ivan 2-for 9 from 2.3 overs and medium-pacer Renwick Batson 2-18 from four overs.
