AEROTEL/KOOL 97 FM whip St Thomas in Masters cricket

GEORGETOWN, GUYANA - AEROTEL/KOOL 97 FM defeated St Thomas Masters by seven wickets to register their first win in the 2013 Wray and Nephew White Overproof Rum Masters T20 cricket competition at the Kensington Park on Sunday.
After losing to Wray All-Stars, AEROTEL/KOOL 97 FM made amends against St Thomas Masters who were suffering their third consecutive defeat.
Batting first, St Thomas Masters who lost the toss to their opponents, due to their late arrival, made a paltry 82 for nine wickets off 18 overs, batting one short. Only Mark Penn 18 (three fours) and Clive Scott with 16 were the only batsmen reaching double figures. Rohan Britton captured four wickets for 21 runs off his four overs, while Alva Myles took two for six off two overs.
AEROTEL/KOOL 97FM replied with 83 for three wickets off 9.4 overs with Derron Dixon scoring 21 with three fours and Oneil Cruickshank making 15 not out, while Courtney O'Connor got 12.
Meanwhile, May Pen Lions chalked up their second win from two starts in Zone 'A' with a 79-run win over Melbourne who were losing their second game from three matches.
May Pen Lions lead the point standings in Zone 'A' with six points from two games, followed by Moneague Strikers three points from one game, defending champions Mico Masters with three points from two matches, Melbourne three points from three games and Portmore without a point from two matches.
Zone 'B' leader is Domtar Sports Club with six points from two matches, followed by St Catherine Parish with three points from one game, Wray All-Stars three from two matches, AEROTEL/KOOL 97FM three from two starts, while St Thomas Masters are without a point after three matches.
The competition continues on Sunday with a double-header, featuring Domtar Sports Club against St Catherine Parish at 10:00 am and Portmore playing Moneague Strikers at 2:00 pm at the Kensington Cricket Club.
