Georgetown, Guyana - National Under-19 all-rounder, Ricardo Adams has been suspended for three months from all Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) and its Members’ cricket as of Saturday September 21, 2013.

During this time, Adams must attend professional counselling sessions to help him with his problem so that he can return to cricket early next year, a more focused individual, with his counselling being facilitated by the GCB.

The decision was made by Executives of the GCB, yesterday, following a debriefing with the coach of the National U-19 team Adrian Amsterdam and team Manager, David Black.

After which, the Executives allowed Adams to defend himself, to which he agreed that the major allegations made against him were true and apologised to the Board, the Coach, and the Manager stating that he would not repeat his mistakes again.

Adams was reported by his Coach and Manager for serious indiscipline during the Regional U-19 tournament which was held in St Kitts from July 19 – August 21 last, and with the disciplinary hearing being set for yesterday, the GCB had suspended the hard hitting left handed batsman on the eve of their Pepsi sponsored senior 50 overs Inter-county tournament.

According to the report from Black, Adams complained of stomach pains and diahorrea and despite receiving treatment for same up to the time of the team’s departure for training, he reported that the problem was still there, when Amsterdam sent his roommate to summon him.

A decision was made to have him stay back at the hotel and recuperate, while the team departed for the practice venue, however, upon their return Adams was seen in the company of a young lady, whom he was later seen with at the pool.

When summoned to a disciplinary meeting by both Amsterdam and Black, it was decided that the guilty player would need to do 50 press ups by Amsterdam, an act he refused to execute, hence he was not selected to play the final match, while being told that a report with be filed to the GCB on the team’s return, to which he said ‘no problem’.

The Disciplinary Hearing took place during the Demerara versus Essequibo encounter, for which Adams was selected to play, but as the Cinderella County team made their way onto the field, where they decided to bowl first after winning the toss, Adams was pulled from the team, pending the hearing.
