Georgetown, Guyana - The 2014 Memorex Under-17 two innings Cricket Competition continued recently.
Highlighting the latest matches was the outstanding bowling performance of Achievers medium pacer Randy Wade who took 9 wickets for 21 runs from 10 overs to almost singlehandedly bowled out Cotton Tree Die Hard for 55 in their innings, producing the best bowling performance in a single innings in the competition so far. After achievers tallied 141 in their response, he came back and took 3 for 16 from 5 overs to skittle Cotton Tree Die Hard for 84 in their second innings to finish with a match haul of 12 for 37, the best so far in the competition.
Former Under-15 all-rounder Joel Sietaram slammed 62 to assist Tucber Park A to 173 in their first innings against Police. When Police replied, he came back with his left arm spin to take 6 for 45 to bowl them out for 125 despite a fine innings of 53 from Berbice Under-15 Batsman Kevin Sinclair.
Leg spinner Brandon Stewart of Tucber Park B had an eight wicket haul (3 for 22 and 5 for 4) in his team first innings loss to Rose Hall Community Centre.
Pacer Lynford Reynolds of Monedderlust took 6 for 19 in D’Edward’s first innings to set up an outright win for his team.
At Cotton Tree: Achievers beat Cotton Tree Die Hard by an innings and 3 runs. Cotton Tree Die Hard scored a meagre 55 in their first innings with Andre Chesney 28. Randy Wade took 9 for 21. In their second turn at the crease, the host made 84 with Wade 3 for 16, Jason Johashen and Titus Webster taking 3 for 21 each. In Achievers only innings, they made 141 with Johashen 31, Rishi Daniels 27 and Wade 24. Leonard Seetayah took 5 for 32 and David Samuel 2 for 17.
At Vryman’s Erven: Tucber Park A took first innings points from Police in their drawn match. Tucber Park A first innings 173 with Joel Siteram 62 and Ravindar Beharry 30. Kevin Sinclair took 3 for 12 and Raymond Ven Kenie 3 for 19. Police first innings 125 with Kevin Sinclair 53. Joel Siteram took 6 for 45 and Tyrell Peters 4 for 30.
At Rose Hall in Canje, Rose Hall Community Centre took first innings points from Tucber Park B in their drawn match. Rose Hall Community Centre first innings 79 with Kristaff Bahadur 20. Jamin La Fleur took 3 for 16, Brandon Stewart 3 for 22 and Dominique Durant 2 for 15. In their 2nd inning they made 65 with Brandon Stewart who took 5 for 4, Naresh Chan 2 for 2 and Joshua Deonarine 2 for 7. Tucber Park B 1st innings 71 with Rabindra Ramnauth taking 3 for 16, Keon Isaacs 3 for 16 and Gordon Schultz 3 for 17 and 2nd inning 27 for 2 with Keon Isaacs who took both wickets for 6.
