Round Up: TCL Group West Indies Under 19 Challenge17/07/09KINGSTON, Jamaica -- Round up of Round 3 matches in the 2009 TCL Group West Indies Under 19 Challenge. Leeward Islands versus Windward Islands Leeward Islands playing with some measure of confidence were bowled out for 267 against host Jamaica. The two teams were locked in battle at Melbourne, and will be looking to get the early advantage when play resumes on Day 2. Hayden Walsh Jr. (56), and Akeem Saunders (52) led the Leeward Islands batting. Bowling for Jamaica, Akeem Dewar’s 4 for 68 led all bowlers. When play ended on the opening day, Jamaica was 4 without loss. Trinidad & Tobago versus Barbados Trinidad & Tobago ended on 37 without loss against Barbados. Playing at Up Park Camp, they earlier dismissed Barbados for 183. Leading the way for Barbados, were Roston Chase (45), and Kyle Mayers (42). The Trinidad & Tobago team was restricted by some good bowling, which was supported by the fielding. Yannick Carriah was the most successful bowler with figures of 4 for 35. The not out batsmen for Trinidad & Tobago were Nicholas Alexis (13*), and Mark Panchu (15*). Trinidad & Tobago will be looking to press home the advantage when play resumes on Day 2. Windward Islands versus Guyana The Windward Islands were dismissed just after the tea interval on Day 1 of their Round 3 encounter against Guyana for 215. Playing at Sabina Park, the Windward Islands were led by Kavem Hodge (42), and Dalton Polius (41). Guyana’s bowling was again led by Totaram Bishun, who continued his good form during the tournament grabbing 7 for 64 to lead the Guyana attack. Guyana closed on 71 for 2 with another good performance from Trevon Griffith, who was not out on 31, while Jeetendra Sookdeo made 28. Dalton Polius, the Windward Islands captain, has 1 for 15 and will be looking to make further inroads when play resumes on Day 2. |
