Zimbabwe hoping to prosper on foreign soil

Zimbabwe skipper Propser Utseya believes his team can cause the West Indies some trouble during the upcoming Digicel Series. The allrounder, who bowls quick off-spin and bats in the lower-middle order, said his players were quietly confident of doing the business on foreign territory.
He added they will be using the tour as a stepping stone to the ultimate goal of a return to the Test match arena. The first assignment in the Caribbean will be Sunday’s one-off Digicel T20 International at the Queen’s Park Oval.
He outlined: “Our players come here on the back of some good performances back home and once we get things right, we can beat the West Indies. If we achieve a win against the West Indies the world will start looking at Zimbabwe again and this is what we want. We are making good strides in the One-Day game and we hope to be back playing Test cricket in the not too distant future. It is important that we play good cricket and make moves forward. Things are starting to shape up for us and we are really looking forward to what the future has for us.”
The 24-year-old, who has played 101 ODIs and seven T20s, acknowledged that the road to success won’t be an easy one. He however outlined that his team is well prepared to will work hard.
“The guys are coming along in terms of adjusting to playing in a different country and they have more or less done that already and are raring to go. Coming from Zimbabwe it has taken some time to adjust but we were good in the nets and we are confident. The key is the preparation, and how you go about getting ready for the big match. Our guys are young in age but quite a few of us have played a lot of cricket so we have a lot of experience in the team.”
