Richards falls to Miller leaving Bajans to get 89 off 60 balls

Barbados will need to make 89 runs in the final 10 overs to defeatJamaica and reach the final of the West Indies Cricket Board’s Caribbean T20 tournament. They reached 65-2 off the first 10 overs in pursuit of Jamaica’s 153-9 off their 20 overs. Opener Dale Richards made 40 off 21 balls at the top of the order but since his dismissal to the Nikita Miller off the first ball of the seventh over the innings slowed down.

Danza Hyatt made a brilliant 89 from 50 balls to launch a tremendous attack for Jamaica in the second half of their innings against Barbados in Semi-final 2 of the West Indies Cricket Board's Caribbean T20 on Friday night at Queen’s Park Oval. The powerfully-built right-hander blasted the ball to all parts of the ground and counted four boundaries and eight massive sixes as he reached the highest score of CT20.

Barbados in full control as Jamaica crawl to 42-2 off 10 overs

Jamaica lost main man Chris Gayle in the third over and Xavier Marshall in the fifth as they struggled to 42-2 at the halfway stage against Barbados in Semi-final 1 of the West Indies Cricket Board’s Caribbean T20 on Friday night at Queen’s Park Oval. Gayle, back in the team after recovering from a groin injury, was well caught for just one by Jonathan Carter running back from square leg off Javon Searles.

Gayle returns for Jamaica against Bajans in CT20 semi-final

Jamaica won the toss and decided to bat first against Barbados in Semi-final 1 of the West Indies Cricket Board’s Caribbean T20 on Friday night at Queen’s Park Oval. Jamaica have welcomed back power-hitter Chris Gayle from injury, while Barbados are without fast bowler Kemar Roach, who was injured in the nets earlier in the day. The winners of the match will qualify for Saturday night’s final against Guyana, who earlier won a cliffhanger against Trinidad and Tobago by four runs.

All set for super semi-finals in Caribbean T20

The top four team have made it through and the stage is set for the semi-finals of the inaugural West Indies Cricket Board’s Caribbean T20 Tournament. Both matches will be played at the Queen’s Park Oval in Trinidad on Friday. In the first match Trinidad and Tobago will take on Guyana at 4 pm (3 pm Jamaica time) while in the second match Barbados will face Jamaica at 8 pm (7 pm Jamaica Time). The two winners of the semi-finals will meet in the grand final on Saturday at 8 pm.

There was no play on Thursday in the final round of preliminary matches in Group B of the West Indies Cricket Board’s Caribbean T20 tournament. Heavy rain all day forced the match officials and organizers to call off the 4 pm match between Barbados and Guyana and the 8 pm match between Windward Islands and Combined Campuses & Colleges slated for Queen’s Park Oval in Trinidad.

Brave Darren Bravo stars as T&T make point against Jamaica

Trinidad and Tobago maintained their 100 percent record with a clinical victory by 49 runs over Jamaica in Match 10 of the West Indies Cricket Boards Caribbean T20 tournament at Queens Park Oval on Wednesday night. A colourful crowd of close to 14 000 waited for play to get going at 9 pm  an hour late due to afternoon rain  and when play ended at 12.20 am on Thursday they were left totally satisfied.

Jamaica batsmen were pegged back and struggled to 53-4 off the first nine overs in pursuit of a victory target of 158 in Match 10 of the West Indies Cricket Board’s Caribbean T20 Tournament at Queen’s Park Oval on Tuesday night. They lost opener Brenton Parchment (0), Danza Hyatt (1), Marlon Samuels (16) and Xavier Marshall (25) in quick time against a disciplined Trinidad and Tobago attack. They will now need to score at over 11 runs an over to win the match and top Group A.

Santokie (5-24) and Darren Bravo (65) star on night of action

Jamaica’s left-arm seamer Kirshmar Santokie and Darren Bravo, the Trinidad and Tobago left-hander, starred in the first half of Match 10 of the West Indies Cricket Board’s Caribbean T20 Tournament at Queen’s Park Oval on Wednesday night. Darren scorched 65 from 44 balls, with three sixes and four boundaries as the home side rattled 157-7 off 18 overs in a match reduced due to heavy afternoon rain. Santokie was equally brilliant taking the first five-for of the CT20. He ended with a career-best 5-24 from four overs.

Trinidad and Tobago were on 67-4 after nine overs against Jamaica in Match 10 of the West Indies Cricket Board’s Caribbean T20 Tournament at Queen’s Park Oval on Wednesday night. The match has been reduced to 18 overs due to afternoon rain and at the halfway stage the Bravo brothers were at the crease with the left-handed Darren on 23 from 20 balls and Dwayne on one. Left-arm seamer Krishmar Santokie has been Jamaica’s best bowler so far with 2-13.

Jamaica won the toss and decided to send Trinidad and Tobago in to bat in Match 10 of the West Indies Cricket Board’s Caribbean T20 Tournament at Queen’s Park Oval on Wednesday night. Play started an hour late at 9 pm due to heavy afternoon rain and the match has been reduced to 18 overs per team. The winner of the match will top Group A while the losers will place second. Both teams have already qualified for Friday's semi-finals.

Xavier Marshall of Jamaica has emerged as the leading batsman with two half-centuries. Lennox Cush, the Guyanese off-spinner, is the leading bowler with two four-wicket hauls.

WICB applauds Windwards for victory in TCL Group Challenge

The West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) has congratulated the Windward Islands team for their triumph in the TCL Group Under-19 Challenge three-day tournament. The Windwards won their first title since 2000 when they defeated the Leeward Islands by seven wickets at Beausejour Cricket Stadium in St Lucia on Monday afternoon. They ended the tournament with 39 points  nine more than second-placed Trinidad and Tobago.

Hard work pays off as Windwards take TCL Group U19 title

The Windward Islands have been crowned kings of the West Indies Cricket Boards TCL Group Under-19 Challenge three-day tournament. This happened on Monday afternoon when they earned a convincing seven-wicket win over the Leeward Islands at Beausejour Stadium on the third day of the fifth round. Chasing 135 for victory on the final day of the final round, they reached 137-3 just before tea to win the championship with 39 points.

Xavier Marshall and David Bernard played some stunning shots as Jamaica moved to 76-0 off the first 10 overs in Match 5 of the West Indies Cricket Board’s Caribbean T20 Tournament at Kensington Oval on Saturday afternoon. Chasing a modest 101 made by Canada, the pair wasted no time in dominating the bowling. They now need just 26 runs in the last 10 overs. Marshall is on 37 not out with three boundaries and two sixes, while Bernard is on 30, with two boundaries and a six to follow up his three wickets in the Canada innings.

Jamaica’s bowlers had it all their way restricting Canada to 101-7 off 20 overs in Match 5 of the West Indies Cricket Board’s Caribbean T20 Tournament at Kensington Oval on Saturday afternoon. Jamaica will need 102 off 20 overs for their second victory in as many matches. The Canadians were invited to bat after losing the toss but could not come to grips with the strong Jamaica bowling which was backed up by good fielding.

Jamaica won the toss and decided to bowl first against Canada in Match 5 of the West Indies Cricket Board’s Caribbean T20 Tournament at Kensington Oval on Saturday afternoon. Jamaica are without power-hitter Chris Gayle, who has a groin niggle. He was replaced in the team by leg-spinner Odean Brown. David Bernard will move up the order to open the batting. For the Canadians, Havir Baidwan was replaced by Jamaica-born Tyson Gordon.
