The West Indies Cricket Board, Inc. (WICB) is seeking to recruit a Team Coach for the Senior West Indies Cricket team.
Purpose
The successful candidate will be able to take the lead role in developing, designing and implementing coaching strategies that will create high performance cricketers capable of sustaining peak performance both at home and away.
Job Summary
This challenging position, reporting to the Chief Cricket Operations Officer, includes, but is not limited to, the following duties and responsibilities: -
- To effectively teach the techniques required for the improvement of the skills of individual players and of the team in general.
- To arrange and participate in remedial camps as directed from time to time.
- To devise and implement specific strategies and tactics to ensure competitiveness against specific individual opponents.
- To impart to each team member a high level of skill, and an appreciation for the value of discipline and commitment to individual and team performance.
- To contribute to the design and implementation of team physical conditioning protocols.
- To organize and conduct, where applicable, comprehensive, high quality coaching programmes for use throughout the WICB coaching structure.
- To coordinate and lead all technical training and practice sessions, both on and off the field.
- To sit on the Selection Committee while on tour.
- To represent the WICB team programme to all of the WICB's stakeholders in an articulate manner, as required from time to time.
- To facilitate the overall development of team members, including non-technical and personal issues, through the ability to motivate.
- To analyze statistical data and to interpret game trends from such data.
- To make ongoing efforts at upgrading professional status.
Qualifications and Experience
The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications and experience:
- Recognized Advanced Coaching Certificate
- A sound knowledge of cricket with playing experience either at the Test or first-class level.
- The ability to relate to international cricketers.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Computer literacy and familiarity with current cricket (video) analysis systems.
- The ability to work effectively with a wide range of individuals from diverse backgrounds
In addition, the successful candidate will be willing to spend considerable time away from his normal place of residence while on tour.
