No play on Thursday in Caribbean T20 Group B

There was no play on Thursday in the final round of preliminary matches in Group B of the West Indies Cricket Board’s Caribbean T20 tournament. Heavy rain all day forced the match officials and organizers to call off the 4 pm match between Barbados and Guyana and the 8 pm match between Windward Islands and Combined Campuses & Colleges slated for Queen’s Park Oval in Trinidad.

WICB applauds Windwards for victory in TCL Group Challenge

The West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) has congratulated the Windward Islands team for their triumph in the TCL Group Under-19 Challenge three-day tournament. The Windwards won their first title since 2000 when they defeated the Leeward Islands by seven wickets at Beausejour Cricket Stadium in St Lucia on Monday afternoon. They ended the tournament with 39 points nine more than second-placed Trinidad and Tobago.

Hard work pays off as Windwards take TCL Group U19 title

The Windward Islands have been crowned kings of the West Indies Cricket Boards TCL Group Under-19 Challenge three-day tournament. This happened on Monday afternoon when they earned a convincing seven-wicket win over the Leeward Islands at Beausejour Stadium on the third day of the fifth round. Chasing 135 for victory on the final day of the final round, they reached 137-3 just before tea to win the championship with 39 points.

Nurse takes two wickets as Windwards wobble

The Windward Islands were pegged back and reached 67-4 off their first 10 overs in reply to Barbados 159-6 in Match 8 of the West Indies Boards Caribbean CT20 Tournament at Kensington Oval on Sunday night. Off-spinner Ashley Nurse in just his second match at this level had a double strike Liam Sebastien bowled and Andre Fletcher leg-before in quick time to rattle the Windwards. They could have been in more trouble but Jason Hinds dropped a sitter from the dangerous Darren Sammy, when he had made just seven.

Barbados make slow going in first 10 overs

It has been slow going for Barbados as they struggled to 55-1 off the first 10 overs in Match 8 of the West Indies Boards Caribbean T20 Tournament at Kensington Oval on Sunday night. They will need to pick it up in the final 10 overs to post a challenging target. Opener Dale Richards batted well before he top-edged an attempted pull and was well caught on the third man boundary for 29 of 23 balls.

Holder runs hot as Bajans thump 104 in final 10 overs

Alcindo Holder led a late-innings charge as Barbados rattled up 104 runs in the last 10 overs against the Windward Islands. This piloted the homeside to 159-6 off their 20 overs in Match 8 of the West Indies Boards Caribbean CT20 Tournament at Kensington Oval on Sunday night. The powerfully-built right-hander, who is in the squad specifically for his ability to hit out the ground, thumped 46 not out from just 23 balls to give the Bajans a challenging score.

Barbados bat first after Windwards win the toss

Windward Islands won the toss and decided to bowl first against Barbados in Match 8 of the West Indies Boards Caribbean T20 Tournament at Kensington Oval on Sunday night. The Windwards brought in allrounder Craig Emmanuel to replace Donwell Hector from the team which lost to Guyana in the opening match on Friday. The Bajans made two changes from the team which won the cliffhanger against Combined Campuses & Colleges on Friday night. Jason Haynes and Javon Searles came in to replace Kirk Edwards, who is ill, and Kevin Stoute.

Windward Islands, sent in to bat against Guyana, reached 72-1 in the 10th over in Match 3 of the West Indies Boards Caribbean T20 Tournament at Kensington Oval on Friday afternoon. Right-handed opener Johnson Charles is going well on 49 from 34 balls. He has so far smashed six fours and a big straight six. With him at the crease is Andre Fletcher (14 not out).

Tournament-leaders Guyana will meet with the Windward Islands when the third round of matches in the TCL Group Under-19 Challenge three-day tournament bowls off on Friday. The two sides will do battle at Gros Islet at 10 am (9 am Jamaica Time). Guyana lead with 15 points after two rounds, while the Windwards are on nine points from their two matches.
