No play on Thursday in Caribbean T20 Group B

There was no play on Thursday in the final round of preliminary matches in Group B of the West Indies Cricket Board’s Caribbean T20 tournament. Heavy rain all day forced the match officials and organizers to call off the 4 pm match between Barbados and Guyana and the 8 pm match between Windward Islands and Combined Campuses & Colleges slated for Queen’s Park Oval in Trinidad.

Play abandoned in CT20 Match 9 -- Canada v Leeward Islands

Play in the West Indies Cricket Board Caribbean T20 Group A match between Leeward Islands and Canada was abandoned without a ball being bowled on Wednesday afternoon. Heavy rain shortly before the scheduled 4 pm start forced the match officials to call off the match.Each team got one point.

WICB applauds Windwards for victory in TCL Group Challenge

The West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) has congratulated the Windward Islands team for their triumph in the TCL Group Under-19 Challenge three-day tournament. The Windwards won their first title since 2000 when they defeated the Leeward Islands by seven wickets at Beausejour Cricket Stadium in St Lucia on Monday afternoon. They ended the tournament with 39 points nine more than second-placed Trinidad and Tobago.

Hard work pays off as Windwards take TCL Group U19 title

The Windward Islands have been crowned kings of the West Indies Cricket Boards TCL Group Under-19 Challenge three-day tournament. This happened on Monday afternoon when they earned a convincing seven-wicket win over the Leeward Islands at Beausejour Stadium on the third day of the fifth round. Chasing 135 for victory on the final day of the final round, they reached 137-3 just before tea to win the championship with 39 points.

T&T under pressure; need 105 from 10 overs to beat Leewards

Trinidad and Tobago are struggling on 57-4 off the first 10 overs against the Leeward Islands in Match 6 of the West Indies Cricket Board’s Caribbean T20 Tournament on Saturday night at Kensington Oval, Barbados. They now have to make another 105 runs in the final 10 overs to win the Group A contest. At the crease is Dwayne Bravo on three and keeper Denesh Ramdin also on three. They have lost openers Adrian Barath and William Perkins; skipper Daren Ganga and Lendl Simmons. Pacer Gavin Tonge has been spot on with 2-7 from two overs.

Javier Liburd leads the way as Leewards reach 62-1

Leeward Islands made a positive start to their innings against Trinidad and Tobago and reached 62-1 off the first 10 overs of Match 6 of the West Indies Cricket Board’s Caribbean T20 Tournament between Jamaica and Canada on Saturday evening at Kensington Oval, Barbados. Opener Javier Liburd has played some brilliant strokes with two big sixes on 36 not out. He added 46 for the first wicket with the powerful Kadeem Phillip, who made 20.

Leewards to bat first after T&T win toss

Trinidad and Tobago won the toss and decided to bowl first against the Leeward Islands Match 6 of the West Indies Cricket Board’s Caribbean T20 Tournament at Kensington Oval on Saturday night. Trinidad and Tobago are using the same team which won the opening match against Canada on Thursday, while the Leewards are without their two most experienced, Runako Morton and Omari Banks, who have both been ruled out due to injury. They are replaced by Jacques Taylor and Steve Liburd.

Allrounders Steve Liburd and Jason Campbell have been named to replace Runako Morton and Omari Banks in the Leeward Islands team for the West Indies Cricket Board’s Caribbean T20 Tournament. Morton, the middle-order batsman, has a damaged right shoulder; while Banks, the off-spinning allrounder, has a right hamstring injury. The Leewards are in Zone A and lost their opening match against Jamaica on Thursday. Their next match is against Trinidad and Tobago on Saturday at 8 pm.

Leeward Islands reached 53-3 off 10 overs after deciding to bat first in Match 2 of the West Indies Cricket Board’s Caribbean T20 Tournament at Kensington Oval on Thursday night. The topscore so far has come from opener Javier Liburd who made 25 from 26 balls. Left-arm pacer Krishmar Santokie has been Jamaica’s best bowler with 2-8 off two overs. He dismissed opener Shane Jeffers for five and next ball shattered the stumps of skipper Wilden Cornwall.

Leaders Guyana to face Windwards in TCL Group Under-19 on Friday

Tournament-leaders Guyana will meet with the Windward Islands when the third round of matches in the TCL Group Under-19 Challenge three-day tournament bowls off on Friday. The two sides will do battle at Gros Islet at 10 am (9 am Jamaica Time). Guyana lead with 15 points after two rounds, while the Windwards are on nine points from their two matches.
